Forrest James Johnson

Forrest James Johnson, 37, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in Solvay Hospice House. He was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal brain cancer in June of 2009 at the age of 35.  He had undergone numerous surgeries and treatments.  He is survived by his wife Cara Liebaert.  If you would like to donate funds to help pay for the medical bills, please send your donations to: Forrest Johnson Benefit Fund c/o Park State Bank 2630 W Superior St Duluth, MN 55806.

 

 

 

Nathan Hellman

NATHAN EDWARD, died on February 13, 2010, from a stroke. Nathan was born in Houston TX, on December 8, 1973. He spent his early years in Houston, San Antonio and St. Louis, and grew up in Duluth Minnesota, where he attended Congdon Park Elementary School, Ordean Junior HS and graduated in 1992 from Duluth East HS, where he was the editor of the newspaper and member of the math, Knowledge Bowl, basketball and track teams.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yale University with a degree in Molecular Biology and Biophysics. He received his MD, PhD from Washington University in St. Louis, where he met the love of his life Claire, and then did a residency in Internal Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, where he received the Basic Science Research Award. Following residency, he received a Fullbright Scholar-ship to study the molecular biology of cystic kidney disease at the Hospital Necker in Paris. He completed a Renal Fellow-ship at Harvard University, where he was on staff as a scientist physician and was board certified in Nephrology. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and creator of the Renal Fellows Blog. He was a kind and compassionate person and physician.
Nathan is survived by his wife, Claire; daughter, Sophie; son, Maxime; parents, Patricia (Gregorich) and Richard N. Hellman MD; sisters, Susan Jean Hellman and Catherine O'Malley; brother-in-law, Timothy O'Malley; nephews, Henry and James O'Malley; uncles, Joseph and Robert Gregorich.

 

 

Jodee L. Eng

Jodee L. Eng, 34, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of diabetes on July 27, 2008. Jodee was born on Jan. 22, 1974 to Doug and Debbie Eng. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Reino and Aune Hanninen; paternal grandmother, Lois Eng; great-grandmother, Dora Eng; aunt, Lola Porter; cousins, Lonna Porter and Gus Morrison, Jr.; and uncle, Gus Morrison. Jodee will be greatly missed by her parents; sister, Melissa (Brent) Marconett; nephew, Denon Perrin; the love of her life, Todd Lewis; her dog, Roxie; special friend, Birdie; and many other relatives and friends. 

 

 

Ronald Block Junior

Ronald Block Jr., age 32 of Burnsville, formerly of Duluth; died accidentally October 28, 2006. He was employed with Fairview Southdale Hospital. Survived by wife Stephanie, daughter Hannah, stepson Cole; mother Cindy (Tom) Yewell of Duluth; father Ron Sr. of Fargo; sister Andrea Ulmer of Superior; niece Abbey, nephew Alec and many other loving relatives and friends.

 

 

 

 

Adriane Faith Ormand

Adriane Faith Ormand, 20, of West Mankato Street, died Monday, January 30, 1995, in St. Luke's Hospital from injuries sustained in a car accident.  She was born in St. Paul and was a Duluth resident for the past 19 years.  She graduated from Duluth East High School in 1992, and was a dog groomer for Woodland Poochie Parlor.  She was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd.  She is survived by her parents, John and Caroline Ormand, a sister, Diana Ormand, a brother, Lee Ormand, and her paternal grandparents, John and Gertrude Ormand, all of Duluth.
